Reflecting in Gratitude Vol. 7
April 2020
WE GET TO DECIDE!
Corona threatens to silence us.
What’s next? Does it make sense to keep on going?
I am an oboist. Like me, most of you are not standalone players. You need your ensemble, your band, your orchestra, your choir.
I don’t know what the answer is, but I do know this:
You get to decide!
While you distill your life down to that which most important in these strange times, you brace for the moment when you grasp that
You get to decide.
You get to decide when and how to keep on playing, to keep on singing.
It will require leadership, adaptation, a lot of creativity and a serious dose of bravery and determination.
You get to decide.
I raised my voice to sing with the LSM virtual choir. I did it and, believe me, stagger breathing sounds really stupid when I am all by myself. BUT
I get to decide.
I choose to keep singing. Please join me. The due date has been extended to April 24th.
Grace to you and Peace,
Jeanine Krause

Here are the three steps to join the LSM Virtual Choir!
|
|
Step one: Listen
Watch and listen to this video of LSM Cantor, Chad Fothergill, conducting Luther’s Morning Prayer along with a recording from LSM 2009. You will sing along to this video when you create your own.
|
The arrangement is for SATB voices- feel free to choose the part you are most comfortable singing!
|
|
|
Step two: Record
Once you are comfortable singing along with the video, make sure you put in your headphones when you are ready to make your own recording. We need to hear you – not the background video!
You will watch and listen to the singalong video on one device (laptop/tablet/phone) and simultaneously record your own video on a separate device . See right for simple instructions on how to shoot a great video with your phone!
Just for fun: consider wearing your favorite LSM t-shirt in your video!
|
|
|
Step three: Upload
Once you’ve gotten a full take that you’re happy with (it doesn’t need to be perfect!), upload your video to this Dropbox . Please label your video with your name and voice part to simplify the mixing process for our editor.

Just like LSM itself, this project is about building community and growing together- not about perfection. Come as you are, and see yourself singing alongside friends from LSM past and present!
